E-mail Print PDF

The Armenian Scoeity of Los Angeles Chorus is one of the oldest Armenian musical ensembles in Los Angeles. The chorus was founded in 1956 by Hovannes Topalian. Shortly after, Varoujan Haghbandarian became the leader of the chorus.

From 1979 to 1998 Mastro Alfred Mardoyan assumed the leadership of the chorus. During this period, the following major programs were presented:

  • Glorification of Maestro Hambartzum Grigorian
  • Praise of Nicole Galandarian
  • Celebration of Maestro Alfred Mardoyan's artistic activities
  • International concerts presenting national songs from different countries

From 1998 to 2002 Maestro Alenoush Yeghnazar was the artistic director and the choirmaster of the chorus.

It is our honor and pleasure to have Maestro Mikael Avetisyan as our choirmaster for the past four years. The following programs were performed during these years:

  • Jewels of Armenian Folk Song and Dance
  • Barge Sabz (Green Leaf) presenting Iranian folk songs
  • Armenian Classical and Pop Music
  • Pearls of Armenian Classical Music

As one of the highlights of its history, The Armenian Society of Los Angeles Chorus is proud and privileged to have collaborated with Maestro Hovannes Chekijian, an internationally acclaimed Armenian choirmaster.
